One 60-day journey around the Land Down Under is being halted following the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a rest. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the ship staff realised the passenger was missing.

An extensive hunt discovered her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

Head of the voyage organizer said that passengers and crew on the Coral Adventurer were notified that the continuation of the voyage had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he added that travelers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via chartered flights".

"Based on limited information we have been provided, it appears that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She further stated that she desired the inquiry would be able to identify what "the operator should have performed that might have protected Mum's existence".

"We understand from the police that it was a very hot day, and mother took sick on the uphill trek," she explained.

"They requested her to go back, unescorted. Then the vessel departed, seemingly without performing a passenger count.
