The man behind the scheme, who devised a operation to supply undetectable PEDs to top competitors featuring baseball icons Giambi and Bonds and Olympic track champion Marion Jones decades ago, has passed away. He reached 75 years.

The Mitchell Report

The federal case inspired the publication Game of Shadows. Shortly after the publication date in 2006, MLB commissioner Selig brought on former senate majority leader Mitchell to examine doping in baseball.

He revealed he provided steroids known as “the cream” and “the clear” and advised on their usage to dozens of top performers, including Jason Giambi, a star player, according to the report.
